5 Bollywood Stars Who Are Expected To Scoop Every Major Award This Awards Season
The Awards Season for the cinematic year 2017 is here and a number of films and actors are in contention for the awards in their respective categories. The season was kicked off recently at the Star Screen Awards a couple of days back and going by the list of winners, we are seeing that Bollywood is finally adapting to the changing phase of Indian cinema and rewarding the actors and films with great performances.
For a long time now, Bollywood award functions have been dismissed by well-known actors, directors, and critics as a waste of time as a number of awards seemed to be purchased. It is a common knowledge now and a number of leading celebrities have admitted to having purchased these awards. Still, the recent trends seem to suggest a change and the films with real content are doing wonders at the box office as well as at these awards functions.
2017 had its fair share of big budgeted blockbusters and critically acclaimed films and a number of actors gave great performances in these films. Also, some of the films were brilliantly directed and we also got to hear some soulful numbers from singers. Here are 5 celebrities who are expected to scoop ever major award this awards season in these categories:
Best Actor: Always the most sought-after category and the one that always dominates the news headlines, this year's best actor category has some interesting performances to choose from. Rajkummar Yadav's performance in Newton is said to be one of the strongest as well as Irrfan Khan's turn as Raj Batra in Hindi Medium is hard to ignore. Interestingly, not a single Khan from the famed triumvirate seems to be expected to win.
Best Actress: One of the toughest choices this year, there hardly has been a hard-hitting performance from leading actresses this year. Vidya Balan has won hearts for her performance as Sulu from Tumhari Sulu while Konkona Sen Sharma is winning rave reviews for her performance in Lipstick Under My Burkha. Not any other performance seems to be interesting enough. Though it would have been a Deepika Padukone show all over had Padmavati released on 1st December but due to controversies, the film will release next year.
Best Director: A number of directors can stake their claim for the award in this category. Ashwini Iyer Tiwari for Bareilly Ki Barfi, Amit V Masurkar for Newton, Saket Chowdhary for Hindi Medium, Alankrita Shrivastava for Lipstick Under My Burkha are the major bets this year for directing out of the box films that have won acclaim from all over the country as well as have worked wonders at the box office.
Best Film: Again the race is strong with a number of contenders in this category. Hindi Medium, Newton, Lipstick Under My Burkha and Shubh Mangal Savdhan may be the major bets in this category.
Best Singer: This seems to be the easiest of the choices, Arjit Singh is having a ball right now as almost every other film has a track sung by him. He also won the awards last year for Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and this year too, he has sung beautiful songs in films like Raees and Jagga Jasoos. For the female category, the Kanha song sung by Shashaa Tirupati seems to be the leading bet.
