6 Bollywood Actors Who Will Be Appearing In A Period Drama For The First Time
Bollywood has successfully explored almost all the genres through its films and one of the genres which always excites the makers and the audiences equally is the period dramas. These films are rich in history, massive production budgets and special effects help the audiences to live the eras these films are set. Some of the biggest hits of the year have been these historical dramas. Padmaavat has already earned more than 300 Crores at the Indian box-office.
But the box-office performance of these films are always unpredictable and numerous period films have been at the center of different controversies. As India is one of the oldest civilizations in the world, it has been home to a number of religions, kingdoms, and cultures and making a film which doesn't hurt anyone from any one community is very difficult as a number of political outfits and groups try to take advantage for their gains. Kriti Sanon: The Bareilly Ki Barfi actress will appear in Panipat which is based on the 3rd battle of Panipat. The actress will be portraying the role of Parvatibai and will be seen alongside Arjun Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt in this Ashutosh Gowarikar directorial.
Ankita Lokhande: The popular TV actress will soon make her debut in Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: Queen of Jhansi which is based on the life of Rani Laxmibai.
Katrina Kaif: The actress will be seen in her first-period drama in YRF's Thugs of Hindostan which also stars Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan in the main roles. The film is helmed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who directed Aamir and Katrina in Dhoom 3.
Arjun Kapoor: The actor will appear in his first ever historic role in Ashutosh Gowariker's Panipat. He will portray the role of Sadashivrao Bhau, the Maratha Army Leader.
Fatima Sana Shaikh: The Dangal actress will be seen in this year's Thugs of Hindostan, a period-drama directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya. She will be reunited with her Dangal co-star Aamir Khan in the film.
Riteish Deshmukh: The actor will take on the role of iconic Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji. The film will be shot in Marathi and Riteish has said that it may become bi-lingual once they start shooting.
