All The Films Kareena Kapoor Rejected Opposite Ranveer Singh Till Takht Happened
Ranveer Singh is certainly on a roll when it comes to his movies, giving back to back blockbusters like Padmaavat and Simmba the actor has proven his mettle and the rave reviews of Gully Boy paint a similar picture. But despite his phenomenal success, the Begum of Bollywood Kareena Kapoor has refused a film opposite the actor not once but three times! The two will finally be seen sharing screen space in Karan Johar’s historical drama Takht, but before that check out all the movies Kareena has rejected opposite our very own Gully Boy.
Goliyon Ki Rasleela Ram Leela – If Sanjay Leela Bhansali had his way, we would have seen Kareena Kapoor opposite Ranveer Singh as Leela. The actress apparently even signed the dotted line but later backed out just 10 days before the shoot had to begin. The director then hastily signed on Deepika Padukone and lucky for Ranveer Singh who met the love of his life.
Dil Dhadakne Do – The modern family drama take took the audiences on a cruise of life was directed by Zoya Akhtar and brought back Anushka Sharma and Ranveer on screen together. But it is lesser known that Anushka’s part was originally offered to Kareena who wanted to focus on her married life and couldn’t spare 3 months for the shoot on a cruise ship.
Sadma remake - Sridevi’s role in Sadma was so iconic that no Bollywood actress would bat an eyelash before getting on board for the project, but unfortunately for the makers, Kareena’s pregnancy came between their plans of casting her. Ranveer, on the other hand, was the choice to reprise Kamal Hassan’s role in the film. Her exit from the project forced them to shelve the project for the time.
Ranveer is a big fanboy of the actress and even confessed same at multiple occasions, thankfully they are finally uniting for Takht. Kareena acknowledged the same and said in an interview with Hindustan Times, “It is great that finally after so many years I will be sharing screen space with him [Ranveer Singh]. It was long due collaboration. He is just a phenomenal actor. It will be an honor to share screen space with him. I am very happy,” Kareena said.
Interestingly enough Kareena had walked out of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Bajirao Mastani too, but that was long before Ranveer Singh came on board and the film was to be made with Salman Khan in the lead.
