6 Bollywood Actresses Who Accidentally Landed Into 100 Crore Club Multiple Times
The 100 crore fascination is a funny one in India! When you take a closer look at all the films that have actually made it to the club, you find a funny side of how Bollywood works. Half of those films in the list are arguably undeserving, the other half in the list have just accidentally made their way. At a time when stars are ranked at the number of 100 crore hits they have registered to their names, the final tally is rather controversial.
Almost every film in the list happens to have its leading lady cast in such a way, that she has virtually nothing to offer to the script. Isn’t it ironical that while an actress like Richa Chadha has no films in the club yet, Jacqueline Fernandez is sitting in the top zone with three films. While we don’t complain on the fact she has in fact made such numbers, what doesn’t go down well is that she had absolutely zero contribution to the narration. And it’s not just her, most of our modern day actresses who take pride in being associated with multiple 100/200 or even 300 crore films have just accidentally got themselves in to the club. The films have either banked upon its huge star power of its lead actor or the inherent popularity of its content has sailed it passed through.
Here are 6 Bollywood actresses who we have actually accidentally landed into the 100 crore club multiple times:
Katrina Kaif
100/200 Crore Movies: Dhoom 3, Ek Tha Tiger, Jab Tak Hai Jaan, Bang Bang, Tiger Zinda Hai, Thugs of Hindostan
If only looking charmingly gorgeous on screen was enough to take credit for a film’s box office performance, Katrina would have gone home with some glory. However, looking at her films that have done too well, there’s hardly anything she has done to contribute to its success.
Sonakshi Sinha
100 Crore Movies: Dabangg, Dabangg 2, Rowdy Rathore, Son of Sardar, Holiday: A Soldier Is Never Off Duty
It’s not as if she Sonakshi hasn’t good movies or she can’t perform. We’ve seen her charismatic potential in Lootera and she would hopefully be impressive enough in Akira. However, all of her top grossers have come at the cost of being loud mindless entertainers barring Dabangg, but then she had virtually nothing to offer there.
Jacqueline Fernandez
100/200 Crore Movies: Kick, Housefull 2, Housefull 3, Judwaa 2, Race 3
To be able to leave a mark in a Salman Khan starrer may only be a distant dream for an actress or even an actor. Any other actress in Kick would have only made so much difference to its box office tally. On the other hand, films like Housefull 2 and 3 have almost completely depended on its male army led by Akshay Kumar!
Shraddha Kapoor
100 Crore Movies: Ek Villain, ABCD 2
It rather came as a surprise when one of her very early films like Ek Villain easily minted 100 crores at the box office despite being strictly average. Even film’s lead actors like Sidharth Malhotra and Riteish Deshmukh found themselves lucky being in the club. She sprung a surprise again with ABCD 2 going on the same roads. Pure luck we believe!
Asin
100 Crore Movies: Ghajini, Housefull 2, Housefull 3
Yes, she was lovely in Ghajini without a doubt! But Ghajini being India’s first ever film to do a business of 100 crores had nothing to do with her. It was all about gruesome action and beefed up Aamir Khan. As for the rest of her movies, the heavy loaded multi-star cast says it all.
Kareena Kapoor Khan
100/200/300 Crore Movies: 3 Idiots, Ra.One, Golmaal 3, Singham Returns, Bodyguard, Bajrangi Bhaijaan
She has the most iconic of big buck movies to her account but her contribution always appears to be under doubts. 3 Idiots was an Aamir Khan-Raju Hirani product while we all know what major contribution she had made to the historic run of Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Despite having the potential to be really leaving an impact on the big screen, Kareena has just not been able to earn the credit that she can deserve.
At a time when pay disparity affirms the difference of dominance a male and a female actor has in the industry, these facts shouldn’t come as a shocker. However, with the changing trends and women centric cinema finding enough acknowledgement, we don’t think that a 100 crore movie dominated by an actress is too far away!
