5 Films Of 2018 Which Have The Potential To Earn More Than 500 Crores Worldwide

The year 2018 has an interesting slate of upcoming films and almost every big star is coming up with a film which has the potential to earn a lot of money at the box-office. The year already started with a bang with Padmaavat being the second entrant to the 500 Crore club after Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar became a box-office juggernaut in China and is still going strong.

Padmaavat has earned more than 276 Crores in India since the day of its release and Secret Superstar has collected more than 760 Crores in China till now and is currently the second highest grossing Indian film in China. The first position is firmly held by Aamir Khan's Dangal which earned a whopping 1200 Crores in China. Seeing the auspicious start to the year after a dull 2017 has heightened the hopes of fans as well as industry and trade analysts. Here are 5 other films of 2018 which can gross more than 500 Crores worldwide:

Thugs of Hindostan: The Aamir Khan starrer is an adventure period/action drama which also features Katrina Kaif, Amitabh Bachchan and Fatima Sana Sheikh in prominent roles and is directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya of Dhoom 3 fame. The duo already has a blockbuster in Dhoom which at one time was the highest grossing Bollywood film of all time and going by Aamir Khan's massive popularity in China alone, 500 Crores should be a cakewalk.

Race 3: Salman Khan takes over the driver's seat from Saif Ali Khan and leads the ensemble cast that includes Bobby Deol, Daisy Shah, Jacqueline Fernandez, Saqib Saleem etc. The film is the 3rd part of the widely popular Race franchise and with Salman Khan's addition, the film has the potential to break 500 Crore barrier.

Zero: The Shah Rukh Khan starrer is a romantic-comedy-drama which stars the actor as a dwarf. Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif star in major roles in this Anand L Rai directorial and the teaser of the film got everyone talking. People are curious to see Shah Rukh in a new avatar and with one of the biggest actors in the world as the lead, the film can easily break the 500 Crore barrier. 

Sanju: Ranbir Kapoor's highest grossing worldwide film is Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani which earned 318 Crores worldwide but this Sanjay Dutt biopic is directed by master filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani who has delivered blockbusters like Lage Raho Munnabhai, 3 Idiots, and PK. The latter two were the highest grossing films of all time at one point. PK earned 831 Crores worldwide and Dangal, a biopic, earned 387 Crores in India and a whopping 1800 Crores worldwide. Hopes are high from Sanju.

2.0: The sequel to Enthiran has none other than superstar Rajinikanth in the lead and also boasts of the presence of superstar Akshay Kumar. Rajinikanth's previous film Kabali earned more than 600 Crores worldwide and with a worldwide following in hundreds of millions, Rajini's 2.0 can definitely break the 500 Crore barrier. A few experts are thinking that the film may earn more than 1000 Crores worldwide.
