She might be the toast of the world now, but the first time world sat up and took notice of Priyanka Chopra was in Aitraaz . Her portrayal of Sonia re-defined the word femme fatale for a generation and she earned her first Filmfare for the role. It was the first of chapter of the incredible success story that she wrote thereafter. Thus with the news of Aitraaz having a sequel, that might also feature the diva herself we simply cannot contain our excitement

Reportedly Subhash Ghai has already spoken to Priyanka and she has also shown interest in the project. If sources are to be believed and if a sequel to Aitraaz is actually on the cards, here is what we would like to in the sequel of the film.

Sexual Empowerment

One of the many reasons why Aitraaz was a success was due to the ultimate antagonist played by Priyanka Chopra. Although she was the ‘vamp’ in the movie, it was new for Indian audience to see a woman in charge of her own sexuality. However, the sad part is, because this is something society usually struggles to comprehend, her character was shown in a negative light. We really hope and pray that in the sequel, women taking charge of their sexuality is shown in an empowering way and not as something that is the domain of 'immoral women'.

Thriller Angle

Is it such just me or did Aitraaz just brushed past the genre of thriller? The treatment of the film was very akin to that of a pacy thriller but somehow it wasn’t explored enough. So it the sequel happens, won’t it be great to make it into a proper thriller? A thriller, courtroom drama combined with the sexiness of the film-this would sure be a winning formula.

Abbas-Mustan’s Redemption

While the Hollywood cinephiles of this country had cried foul time and again, we are totally thankful to the director duo Abbas-Mustan for giving us some of the most stylish and twisted super hits. However, the duo’s last directorial outing was embarrassing, to say the least. Thus, this venture could be the perfect way to redeem themselves after the fiasco named ‘Machine’.

Relationship Woes

We totally love the old Aitraaz, but to come to think of it the plot would be somewhat dated now. Thus instead of the whole husband-wife angle, if the story revolves around the dysfunctional relationships of today, it would probably be easier for the young audience to relate to it.

Musical Masala

Although the songs of the film were quite popular back in the days it released, to be honest, the music of the film left us wanting more. The narrative has a great scope for music and makers can surely play with a new sound of music. Also, imagine Priyanka Chopra, who will probably anyway be a part of the film, cooing to some sexy melody in the movie in her own velvety voice. Swoons.
