But later it was announced that she would not be playing the role opposite Rajnikanth and Easwari Rao would be essaying that role and Huma would be playing the role of Zareens, Rajnikanth’s ex. In a tiff between D2H service providers and Tamil cinema authorities over increasing VPF there has been no Tamil release in the last three months. The film Kaala which was initially supposed to release on April 27th, had to wait for almost two months for the issue to settle down and finally see the light of the day, or darkness of the theatre so as to say!

    The Cauvery Water Distribution Issue

A Rajnikanth film is no less than a major festival in all the five states of South India. But due to the on-going tension between Karnataka and Tamil Nadu over the water distribution of the Cauvery river, the film will now not be released in Karnataka. Not just Kaala, but Karnataka, as of now, has put a blanket ban on all Tamil films. Not only this would result in Kaala losing a major chunk of its business but it has also marred the festive feeling that is usually there around a Rajnikanth film.

    Natural Calamities

    K. Rajashekaran of GSR Vinmeen Creations filed a case claiming the title of this film against the director  P.A Ranjith, Rajnikanth, and Dhanush, the producer of the film. He claimed he had registered the title Kaarikalan with South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. However, Wunderbar Films, which is owned by Dhanush produced a counter affidavit showing that the title was registered with M/S Mini Studio which happens to be a sister concern of Wunderbar Films.
