Movies Of 2018 Which Turned Out To Be Terrible Despite Having A Good Concept

When it comes to offering us a staggering variety, 2018 has been a generous year. One can hardly remember a year in recent times when Bollywood came up with movies that were so unique in their own ways. From epics to biopics to tricky genres like horror comedy Bollywood made it all and nailed it all.

However, this year there were also certain films which got the concept right but suffered due to poor execution or bad performances or any other external factors. Here are the ones we are talking about.

Fanney Khan

One can hardly question the concept of a film that won an Oscar. We are talking about the Belgian film Everybody’s Famous on which Fanney Khan is based on. The film despite having an award-winning concept and a magnificent star cast which included names like Anil Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and Rajkummar Rao turned out to an assault to senses simply to its harebrained adapted screenplay and totally incompetent direction. We really did not want such a cast to go waste but Fanney Khan was beyond repair.  

Bhavesh Joshi

When Bollywood makes an attempt in the superhero genre it usually does not end up well. But this time the whole concept of Bhavesh Joshi felt unique and in sync with the Indian sensibilities. However, the movie faltered majorly in terms of execution and turned out to be super boring, something a superhero film should never be.

Kaalaakandi

When you have a dependable actor like Saif in a quirky, urban comedy expectations are bound to rise. But Saif’s psychedelic comedy was just like a bad hangover. The film worked in parts but on the whole, crossed the line between whacky and ridiculous and thus failed a totally unique concept.

Aiyaary

A director like Neeraj Pandey working on yet another film about men in uniform that includes Manoj Bajpayee and a story about corruption in the army- what could go wrong? Well, everything. Aiyaary as a film was everything that we do not expect from a team that has given us Baby. But despite having all the makings of an edge of the seat espionage thriller it turned out to be ridiculous and excruciatingly boring.

Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster 3

Right after the smashing success of Sanju, the real Sanju, Sanjay Dutt was coming back to screen after with a franchise that had royal desi swagger written all over it. But indulgent filmmaking and a terrible screenplay coupled with a bad plot made sure this ship sank and how!
