Exclusive Video: Tareefan Singer Lisa Mishra And Vishal Mishra Of Selfish Fame Opens Up About Their Recent Collaboration Saajna Ve

They are both from non-filmy, non-musical backgrounds, both got discovered almost randomly and they of course they are both Mishras- we are talking about Lisa Mishra and Vishal Mishra. Lisa was discovered on Instagram after she sang a cover of the song Tareefan from Veere Di Wedding which not only became viral but Rhea Kapoor also decided to put it in the film.

Vishal Mishra, on the other hand, is the composer of the largely trolled Selfish song from Race 3 but has actually a talented musician who have composed beautiful songs from Veere Di Wedding, Qarib Qarib Singlle, Notebook and also Kabir Singh.

The two Mishras have recently collaborated for an indie song named Saajnaa Ve which has already garnered more than 10 million views. The song has been written and composed by Vishal Mishra and sung by him and Lisa Mishra. Apart from the gorgeously shot video, the song has a melody that is just the right mix of contemporary music and age-old soothing melodies.

While Vishal has his music sensibilities rooted in the soil of Unnao in Uttar Pradesh, Lisa. who has extensively worked in Chicago, is planning to bring the influences of R&B and hip hop in Indian music.

As these musical powerhouses who compose, write and mix their songs all by themselves, come together for Saajna Ve, we can maybe hope for a revival of indie music that has taken a back seat.

In an exclusive chat with Desimartini, the musicians spoke candidly about their journeys, musical inspirations and the curse of being musicians.
