After a series of delays and uncertainty, Sushant Singh Rajput and Jacqueline Fernandez’s Drive has finally come up with the trailer. Directed by Tarun Mansukhani of Dostana fame, the film belongs to the heist genre and tells the story of a group of racers trying to pull a heist at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

The film is set to drop on Netflix on November 1st and is the first Netflix India Original film to be produced Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Here’s what we thought about the trailer.

    Feels A Little Date

Like any Dharma film, the gloss and suave factor of the film is on-point and swag suits Sushant Singh Rajput. But from the clapbacks to the stunts and even the usual tropes to make the film appear ‘cool’, ‘hip’ and ‘sleek’ look a little dated. To be honest, the trailer offers nothing new that we have not seen in every heist film ever.

    Sushant Singh Rajput Looks Charming

To give credit where it is due, Sushant has a personality where dialogues full of swagger and sass suits him really well. Given heist films usually heavily rely on the style and sleekness of the protagonist, Sushant feels like an interesting choice. However, his chemistry with Jacqueline, which looked pretty cool in the song Makhna, falls flat in the trailer.

    Bad CGI

One of the biggest reasons why the film is sure to receive a lot of bashing is bad CGI. The quality VFX in certain scenes are almost embarrassing. One would surely not expect certain obvious low quality from a product that has the tag of both Netflix and Dharma Productions.

    Major Dhoom Feels

It might be a little unfair to do so, but heist films with racers is sure to evoke memories of Dhoom. Yes, there it was bikes and here it is high-speed car but an impossible heist, a super charming and intelligent thief and sexy aides with a bit of friendship emotions thrown into the mix is just too many similarities to go unnoticed.
