Mogul: Here Are The Names Of All The Actors Who At Some Point Were Considered For The Role Of Gulshan Kumar In His Biopic

If you have been living under a rock, you would know that Aamir Khan is currently making it to the headlines for green lighting the Gulshan Kumar biopic Mogul. Previously, Aamir, who is also co-producing the film, had left the project owing to the sexual harassment allegations against director Subhash Kapoor. However, it is not the first time that Aamir had left and come back to the project.

In fact, the film has gone through quite the roller-coaster ride and apart from Aamir, there were several reports about several actors who at some point were being considered to play the role of the late music mogul. Here are the names whose name has been linked to the project.

Aamir Khan

After a slew of controversies and several back and forth, it is finally confirmed that Aamir Khan would be essaying the role of Gulshan Kumar in his biopic Mogul. The actor was initially the co-producer of the film and despite Bhushan Kumar asking him to play the role, he could not see himself as the character. He kept offering the role to other actors, but none of that worked out. Finally, Bhushan Kumar said that he was meant to play the role and Aamir could not refuse anymore. However, he then left the film owing to the sexual harassment charges against the director, Subhash Kapoor, but eventually decided to him the benefit of doubt and work on the film.

Akshay Kumar

When Aamir Khan was on board as just the co-producer, the original choice for the part was Akshay Kumar. He even went to the extent of claiming that no one apart from him could play Gulshan Kumar on-screen. However, he left the film owing to some creative differences over the script and Bhushan Kumar vowed to cast a bigger star than Akshay for the role.

Ranbir Kapoor

For a brief period of time, the buzz was Ranbir Kapoor is being considered to play the lead in Mogul. Producer Bhushan Kumar was persoanally instrumental in starting the discussion with Ranbir as he thought that he is a good actor and has great market value. However, that clearly did not work out.

Varun Dhawan

Recently, in a media interaction, Aamir Khan revealed that he approached Varun Dhawan also to play the role of Gulshan Kumar in Mogul. Aamir revealed that Varun could not commit to the project as he is currently busy with too many films.

Kapil Sharma

One of the most interesting casting considerations has been the comedian/actor Kapil Sharma. Aamir Khan, in the same interaction, said that he approached Kapil for the role as he thought that he pull of the character really well. However, clearly that did not work out either.
