Akshay Kumar’s Sooryavanshi To Release On Diwali, Ranveer Singh’s ‘83 To Hit Theatres On Christmas

To help stop the spread of coronavirus, a nationwide lockdown was declared by our Prime Minister in the month of March. Theatres were shut down and release dates of upcoming films were postponed indefinitely. While many filmmakers decided to go directly for an OTT release, others waited for the situation to get better and hoped for the best. Well much to the delight of movie-lovers, two of the most awaited films of the year will be hitting theatres on Diwali and Christmas this year!

According to the latest announcement made by theatre chain INOX on social media, fans will soon get to watch Ranveer Singh’s sports drama ‘83 and Akshay Kumar starrer cop drama Sooryavanshi in theatres. While ‘83 was scheduled to release on 10^th April, Sooryavanshi was going to hit theatres on 24^th March. Well, better late than never! Along with posters of the film, INOX tweeted: “Mark your calendars! We are getting ready to bring you Rohit Shetty’s Sooryavanshi on Diwali and Kabir Khan’s 83 on Christmas THIS YEAR!!”

Directed by Rohit Shetty and featuring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, Sooryavanshi is the fourth installment of the filmmaker’s Police Universe (which includes Singham, Singham 2 and Simmba). On the other hand, Kabir Khan’s ‘83 is based on the 1983 World Cup. While Ranveer is playing the role of cricketer Kapil Dev, Deepika Padukone is portraying his on-screen wife Romi Bhatia.
