Arjun Kapoor On Trolls: ‘Things Become Personal And People Get Some Vindictive Pleasure By Overdoing It’

Arjun Kapoor is one of the most popular actors of Bollywood who has won hearts with many of his performances, the latest being Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar co-starring Parineeti Chopra. The film is being referred to as one of his best till date and netizens have been showering the actor with lots of praises for his versatility and acting chops on social media. However, being famous comes with its own pros and cons. You receive adulation from fans for your good work but sadly there are still some out there who enjoy trolling through nasty remarks. Arjun, who has been a part of the industry for over 9 years, is no stranger to these trolls.

Talking about the same to Pinkvilla, Arjun shared, “See I'm somebody who's done the roast so I have this ability to laugh at myself. I don’t take myself too seriously that I don’t understand when a joke is being made. But at some point, a line gets crossed and things become personal and people get some vindictive pleasure by overdoing it. That is unfortunate and that comes a lot from the inbuilt frustration and certain amount of anger that is embedded into the people that have phones in their hands you know because of the circumstances and the way the world is. There is a lot more negative emotion and energy and it feels like an outlet and logo ko lagta hai ki stars ko boldenge toh thoda lighter feel hota hai.”

Arjun shared that trolling might make the netizens feel better but he wishes they would realize that stars are also human and it does take a toll on them. They feel mentally, emotionally and physically drained reading it. The actor went on to add that there are people who write nasty things especially about women. He stated, “I’m still a guy and I have faced flak for just my physicality and just for being alive and even being somebody’s son. Main kya karun apni shakal badal dun, apna naam badal dun, should I feel sorry for who I am? We get taken for granted for more and that’s so sad and unfortunate but I hope it improves.”

    Well, we hope so too!
