Ashutosh Gowarikar Set Aside A Huge Amount For Panipat’s Production Design

Filmmaker Ashutosh Gowarikar is known to do his research and his films are always huge. They are always magnanimous. Well, this time for his upcoming release, Panipat, the director has gone back to the 18th century. And what's more, you ask? Well, he allocated a major chunk of the budget for the production design.

According to media reports, a team led by production designer Nitin Desai researched extensively on the weapons that were used during the 18th century. The team replicated original shamshers, khanda and gupti. Replica of shields called tilwah were also made.

The producer of the film said period films require a higher investment than regular feature films and that it is important to pay attention to facets like make-up and props to make the movie as authentic as possible.

The film has actor Arjun Kapoor playing the role of Sadashiv Rao Bhau, actress Kriti Sanon will b playing his wife Parvati Bai and the icing on the cake is Sanjay Dutt will be playing the role of the menacing Ahmed Shah Abdali. And not to forget, the eternal diva, Zeenat Aman will be playing the role of Sakin aBegum.

The film Panipat: The Great Betrayal is slated to release on 6th December 2019.
