Ayushmann Khurrana is probably in the best phase of his career right now. Last year, he knocked it out of the park with Badhaai Ho and Andhadhun, recently won the National Award for Andhadhun, gave a stellar performance in Article 15 and now his latest release Dream Girl has opened to crazy numbers and is almost certain to become a hit.

However, looks like his happy trains is hitting a road bump. Ayushmann has been talking excitedly about his upcoming film Bala where he plays 20 something suffering from premature male pattern balding. While the idea seems fresh and new, as we have come to expect from Ayushmann, it is being claimed that it is not original.

Filmmaker Praveen Morchhale, whose film Walking With The Wind bagged three National Awards in 2017, have accused the maker of violating the copyright. Talking about the same, Morchhale said, “I read a news article on Bala being a satirical comedy about premature balding, which was an idea I had conceived in 2005. I worked on it for two years and registered the story with the Film Writers’ Association (FWA) in 2007. After compiling information from various sources, I have arrived at the conclusion that Bala is very similar to my story and screenplay.”

Praveen has filed a case against the production house Maddock Films and writer Niren Bhatt in the Bombay High Court under the Copyright Act 1957.

In fact, this is not the first time that Bala has been accused of plagiarism. In June, assistant director and aspiring filmmaker, Kamal Kant Chandra had also alleged that Bala was directly lifted from his film Wig and had even filed criminal cases against Ayushmann Khurrana and director Amar Kaushik for cheating and breach of trust.
