Badhaai Do: Bhumi Pednekar To Romance Rajkummar Rao In Badhaai Ho Sequel

The news of a sequel for 2018's sleeper hit, Badhaai Ho, had been doing the rounds for a few days now. It had also been reported that Rajkummar Rao will replace leading actor Ayushmann Khurrana in the film, but the hunt for the leading lady was one. Well, it seems like that too has now come to an end and the film will have none other than Bhumi Pednekar.

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Bhumi Pednekar has been chosen to play the female lead in the film. She has confirmed the news and said, "Badhaai Ho is one of my most favourite films in recent times and it is really exciting to take this franchise forward. For me, the script is one of the best that I have ever come across and I immediately wanted to do the film. My character again is strong, independent and author backed, and it gives me a lot of scope to bring a very different and cool character to life... With each character I have portrayed I have tried to push the envelope and I look forward to doing that with this role too."

Bhumi would essay the role of a PT teacher in a school while Rajkummar Rao will play a Delhi cop who would be the only male cop in a Mahila Thana. Talking about sharing screen space with Rajkummar, the actress said, "I am excited to share screen space with Raj for the first time. He is an artiste I have always wanted to creatively collaborate with."
