Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom had been making it to the headlines for quite some time now. It had been the first Indian film to kick-off shoot in a foreign location after the coronavirus pandemic broke out. After proper quarantine, the shoot of the UK schedule finally kicked off yesterday. And now, the storyline of the film is out!

According to a report in Pinkvilla, Bell Bottom would be based on the notorious plane hijacks of the 80s. A source close to the development of the film was quoted saying, "The movie revolves around a series of plane hijacks that happened in the early '80s, during the reign of Indira Gandhi as the Prime Minister. Akshay plays a spy who solves the conspiracy and helps the country and its defense." Well, that does make sense since Lara Dutta had earlier revealed that she will play Indira Gandhi in the film!

Earlier, some had claimed that the film might be a remake of a South Indian movie but looks like that's not the case. The source also said that it would be a patriotic film and added, "The India-Pakistan angle will play a major role in the gritty thriller. It's yet another patriotic film from Akshay, who is known to be a forerunner for such projects."

We are even more excited about the project now. Bell Bottom is slated for release on 2nd April 2021.
