Taapsee Pannu’s film Thappad has in its wake left a loud ring in the ears of those who have already watched the movie in theatres. A special screening of the movie based on domestic violence was attended by Bollywood celebs like Huma Qureshi, Ayushmann Khurrana, Tahira Kashyap, Rajkummar Rao among several others.

Thappad, after it’s trailer launch, was dubbed by several fans as the anti-thesis of Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh, which was heavily criticized for glorifying domestic violence in the name of love. Taapsee stepped up to refute these claims and stated that her movie had nothing to do with Kabir Singh or what was portrayed in the movie.

Today on social media both Bollywood and reviewers alike can’t help but praise filmmaker Anubhav Sinha for this brilliance and Taapsee for performance in the film. The actress plays a homemaker in the movie who is slapped by her husband publicly and that leads her to decide to end the marriage while she is constantly warned against taking the step. Questioning the normalization of such actions in a potent film, Thappad no doubt is a landmark film in Bollywood today.
