Brahmastra: Karan Johar Declines Hotstar's Offer For OTT Release For The Ranbir-Alia Starrer? Read Details...

Brahmastra seems to be a jinxed film. Well, for starters, the release date of the film is being pushed from 2019 and when a particular date was announced, finally, the pandemic pushed it further! Now, for quite some time, the release of the film was not confirmed and it was also being reported that funds for the film were reduced, as was the run-time. Now, there is a new update about Brahmastra!

According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, OTT platform Disney+Hotstar wanted to buy the streaming rights of the film. A source told the portal, “Disney+ Hotstar has now asked Fox Star Studios if they can hand over Brahmastra for their streaming platform. What it means is, Disney+ Hotstar wants Brahmastra to bypass theatrical release and arrive on its platform directly. They feel Brahmastra is a keenly awaited biggie and if it gets premiered on their platform, it’ll fetch them record streams.”

However, Karan Johar was not too fond of the idea and seems like he declined the offer! “Producer Karan Johar, however, has not shown interest. He believes that the VFX heavy, grand film would be best enjoyed in cinemas,” the same source added.

Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra is a trilogy, but it seems like there are no talks about the sequels as of yet. Looks like the makers are waiting for the response to the film before it goes ahead with the sequels. The film would star Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna amongst others.
