COVID-19: Raveena Tandon Opens Up On Kanika Kapoor’s Controversy; Says ‘People Need To Be Aware’

Fans were in shock when popular singer Kanika Kapoor announced that she has been tested positive for novel coronavirus. The Baby Doll singer, who was in London a few days ago, arrived in Lucknow on 11th March and was asked to quarantine herself at home for 2 weeks to avoid any risks. However, reports suggest that she ignored the instructions given by authorities and attended many social gatherings. On 20th March, she took to her official handle to share that she has been tested positive for COVID-19.

While some are asking the singer to take care of herself and be strong, others are slamming her for being negligent. Actress Sonam Kapoor defended Kanika on social media and ended up falling prey to trolls who called her dumb. In a recent chat with TOI, Raveena Tandon also opened up on the controversy and said, “There are very contrary reports that are coming around, so one can’t say what her situation was. Whether people checked her or did she really lie about not getting a fever?”

She went on to add, “People need to be aware. Was Kanika aware or wasn’t she? These are questions only she can answer. But, in these times, people need to be really responsible. You need to know that even if you are young and your immunity is strong, you can be passing it on to someone senior, whose immunity is not as strong. Even if you don’t get attacked by the virus, you could be transmitting it to someone else. So be responsible. We are citizens and it is equally our responsibility. We can’t always blame the government. It should be your civic sense and duty.”

The Lucknow Police have booked Kanika Kapoor on charges of negligence for attending social events last week despite being infected with coronavirus and having been instructed by the authorities to isolate herself at her home.
