Well, lockdown is in place and everyone is indoors with nowhere else to go and nothing else to do, people are resorting to their TV sets and the vintage shows that are running on TV for entertainment. Anand Sagar’s Ramayan starring Gurmeet Chaudhury and Debina Bonnerjee is also airing on Dangal TV.

Audience in India is currently glued onto re-runs of old iconic shows, one of them being the technologically advanced version of Ramayan starring Gurmeet Choudhary and Debina Bonnerjee. Gurmeet had shot to fame due to his portrayal of Lord Ram in the epic mythological show.

It was during an exclusive conversation with us, Gurmeet stated, “During the shoot of Ramayan, I had to wear a crown (mukut) weighing around 3-4 kilograms which was specially brought from Chennai. Since our shoots would go on for 12-13 hours daily, I had to wear the crown all the time. This headgear was so heavy that I often suffered head injuries. Eventually, I got used to it. Looking back, I believe hard work eventually paid off.”

He further went on to say, “Debina too had a similar incident, we were shooting for a scene in the show for one of the episodes, she had all this headgear and she was also wearing some really inflammable material, the dupatta she had on her head was so long that we didn’t quite notice, it was inside the havan-kund and it caught fire, thankfully, our DOP saw it and immediately raised an alarm. I helped her take the dupatta off of her head. It would have been really bad.”

Well, accidents during shoots are quite common, but this surely was an unknown phenomenon. We feel all’s well that ends well.
