Dharmesh Yelande meets Javed & Naved Jaffrey years after Boogie Woogie, recalls clearing family debts with his winnings

Dharmesh Yelande has been a dancing star on television for several years now. The reality show winner scaled new heights as a performer on shows like Boogie Woogie and Dance India Dance and today is a dance reality show judge himself, helping nurture new talents. On a recent episode of Dance Deewane 3 where he’s a judge, Dharmesh got emotional and looked back at his humble beginnings as Javed Jaffrey and Naved Jaffrey who were judges on Boogie Woogie graced the show.

The choreographer recalled how winning the ‘90s reality show Boogie Woogie helped his family get out of a big financial debts. "Aapke show mein pehla kadam maine rakha tha. Woh mera pehla darwaza tha success ki taraf. Papa tea stall chalaate the, usse itna nahi ho pata tha. Bahut karza ho gaya tha aur main dance ke alawa kuch nahi kar pata tha uss time. Tab main woh Rs 5 lakh aapke show se jeeta tha (I stepped on your show for the first time and it opened the first door towards success for me. My father had a tea stall which didn’t do much. We were in a lot of debt and I never knew anything except dance then. Then I won Rs. 5 lakhs on your show),” Dharmesh tells Javed and Naved on the show.

Javed moved by his sense of responsibility as a youngster tells him it is his father’s blessing by which he has been able to get so far. The two also shared an endearing hug post this emotionally moving moment on stage. Dharmesh had participated in Boogie Woogie in 2008 and won the show. He followed it up by participating in Dance India Dance.

Dharmesh apart from being a reality show judge has appeared in a few Bollywood films as well.
