Did Mahesh Babu turn down Madhu Mantena's Ramayana for an S.S Rajamouli film? Read the deets

For a long time, there is so much that's being said about a retelling of Ramayana. Several films that would be based on Ramayana are in the pipeline. The two biggest ones are undoubtedly Adipurush and Madhu Mantena's Ramayana that would release in 3D. The shoot of the former has already begun, and the casting of the latter is underway. It was being said that Deepika Padukone has been finalised to play Sita in Madhu Mantena's film, and that Mahesh Babu might be seen as Ram. Obviously, fans badly wanted the news to turn true. But looks like Mahesh Babu has turned down the film.

If a report in Peepingmoon is to be believed, then Mahesh Babu won't be a part of the project and the reason is Baahubali director S.S Rajamouli. A source told the portal, "Mahesh Babu has signed Bahubali director SS Rajamouli's next big-scale action movie. He had committed to this project even before Ramayana was offered to him. Rajamouli's Pan-India project has been planned to be shot sometime mid-next year and the makers of Ramayana are also looking at the same time frame. Both the projects require a long-term commitment from the actor and that led him to choose one between the two. Mahesh Babu simply picked Rajamouli over the Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind and Namit Malhotra backed multilingual 3D series."

The source added that the casting is still underway. "Mahesh Babu has signed Bahubali director SS Rajamouli's next big-scale action movie. Mahesh Babu simply picked Rajamouli over the Madhu Mantena, Allu Aravind and Namit Malhotra backed multilingual 3D series," he quipped.

We wonder who would be finalised for the project.
