Exclusive: Amrita Rao On Sushant Singh Rajput’s Death Being Sensationalised: People Have Become So Trivially Judgmental

Amrita Rao has been in the news for a while now, she has been doing her bit in easing the pain of those that are in need amidst the pandemic. The actress had also forgone the rents of her tenants because of the lockdown.

In an exclusive interaction with us, Amrita opened up about the after-effects of the lockdown, mental health and how Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise made it apparent to the citizens of this country that, some show of restraint was necessary.

Speaking about Sushant and how his death has sparked the debate about mental health and well being Amrita tells us, “It has been exactly a month since Sushant passed away. It is so difficult to even say it. Whether you call it nepotism or favouritism or hypocrisy or whatever, if we want to really give a higher purpose to this issue, we must know what is the root cause. We're talking about all of these leading to mental health issues which can lead to other drastic things like, low self-esteem, suicide, depression, losing confidence and feeling like a loser. If mental health is the issue here, let us as humanity not just target one industry, because this is true everywhere. If we take a holistic view, it is also true that today, when people are targeting the film industry and a few directors and actors, tomorrow, people might target the media or an untoward incident like that. I think this exists in layers everywhere.”
