EXCLUSIVE: It's Two Decades Since Office Office And Yet It's As Relatable As It Was Then, Says Patel AKA Deven Bhojani

Nowadays there are so many re-runs of old television serials due to the scarcity of fresh content. Be it Ramanand Saga’s Ramayana or Sara Bhai vs Sarabhai or Office Office. This corona lockdown has actually enabled many to relive their childhood memories through the re-telecasts of these lovely shows yet again.

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that the content in those serials is by far the best content to have ever been dished out for television. And every 90s kid will vouch for that. The kids nowadays are stuffed with content that is heavier on the quantity rather than quality. With the boom in the TV business, the thriving of the gimmick has become almost acceptable a culture.

We got talking exclusively to Deven Bhojani who directed of iconic shows like Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai and Instant Khichdi. He was also part of Dekh Bhai Dekh, Office Office and many other TV shows.

Deven strongly believes, the only thing that is constant is change, “It is said that - The only Constant is Change! This applies to the television industry as well. I have been fortunate to witness the change during the last three decades while being a part of iconic shows like Dekh bhai Dekh, Office Office, Bhakharwadi, etc. I also observed this change while directing Sarabhai vs. Sarabhai, Instant Khichdi and a few more.

He further shed light on how the change in technology has changed, “A lot has changed in terms of the style of working, setups and even the technology used behind creating content. Having said that, the audience is the King and will always remain so. The content creation has to be in line with the viewer's expectation and should ultimately be entertaining.”

And he was absolutely over the moon with his show Office Office being retelecasted on Sab TV, “I am on ecstatic as two of my shows, Bhakharwadi and Office Office will now be airing on the same channel, Sony SAB. It's a great feeling that Office Office is coming back. We had done it during 2001 - 2002. And after almost 2 decades, it would go on air again. The show is still relatable the way it was then.”
