In an exclusive conversation with Desimartini.com Ashwini opened up whether there are instances in the film that belong to her personal life or no.

She admitted, she has in fact invested herself a lot in the film. The director feels every film of hers has a bit of herself in it. “I think as a maker, some part of ours is always there when we make a film. In my case be it Nil Battey Sannata or Bareilly Ki Barfi or even this one. This one I am there a lot more because I am a mother, I have seen my mother, my aunt, and so many people around me who have sacrificed so much for their sons, for their husband and it is our culture.”

The film talks about a female Kabbadi player who gets married and becomes a kitchen lizard tending to her family. Eventually, her dream is given up and she loses herself in the chores of her house but then, later on, she desires to make a comeback and live for herself.

The director feels, “As women, we always tend to think about ourselves in the last stage. I think a lot of my journey in terms of the character, in terms of the clothes and what I like... for instance, I like a lot of gardening and you will see that in the film. It will always be there.”
