Exclusive: Shahid Kapoor Reveals Twelve Nights Of GRUELLING HORROR During a Film Shoot

Shahid Kapoor has time and again proved his mettle as far as his craft is concerned. There had been a lot of naysayers in the industry in the beginning who had predicted that he can’t do anything else but romance. Shahid Kapoor’s range of roles proved then wrong and how. Having said that the kind of characters he has played of late are deep, moving and at times borderline disturbing.

And to portray such characters the actor has to be adept in moulding his mind completely and Shahid is aware of that facet too. His next film Batti Gul Meter Chalu is based on the privatisation of electricity and how at times the common man is conned by the biggies and they have nothing to do because at times they are suppressed, at times they are unaware and at times because they are scared! Another such deep dark character he played in the past was in the film Udta Punjab. Desiamrtini.com got in touch with the actor who is ecstatic about his role in Batti Gul to know about any such dark phase that he went through during any of his shoots.

Turns out that he did! There were twelve nights during the shoot of Udta Punjab which made him question his health real bad! The actor revealed, “Weird things were happening, I remember around one week of shooting the film in Amritsar, I was alone in the hotel room. For twelve consecutive nights I had fever, I sesd to sweat profusely so much so that I had to change my tees thrice. I got my blood tests done, I got every report done and the doctor said there is nothing wrong with you. I had no idea what had happened to me those twelve nights.”

Shahid feels that when an actor starts living a role, the character starts taking the better of him and it becomes increasingly difficult to hold on to your own, quipped he, “You know sometimes, you get so into a character; it becomes a physical manifestation. Today, when I look back that’s the only thing I can think of, I was so zoned into the character that it was physically manifesting itself into some kind of a reaction. Those things happen.

The Batti Gul actor feels no actor should immerse himself or herself completely into the role and even if they do, they should also be able to take themselves out from that mind frame!  He furthered, “I think, it would be good to not take yourself seriously right after you pack up. I wouldn’t just say to practise this at the end of a film, I would rather implore everyone to practise this at the end of everyday and if you can do it - at the end of every shot. That’s because you arr only depleting yourself of the energy when you actually need to conserve it specially when you are playing characters that are so challenging!

Well Shahid, we can’t really agree more with your advice. And we really hope people really love you in Batti Gul Meter Challu. We wish you all the very best!
