Exclusive: Shubhangi Atre Shares What Independence Means To Her, Hopes Everyone Become Self-Reliant

The 15th of August, ‘20 marks the 73rd year of our freedom. Like the entire country, the TV industry too is extremely pepped about it and they are all geared up for celebrating the day in their own way, keeping the social distancing norms in mind.

This year has been an eye-opener of sorts. Things have changed, perspectives have changed and our lives have changed too! With the Coronavirus lockdown, the entire Bollywood was shut down for more than 3 months. The theatres are still shut and no one knows when they will reopen. The business is in shambles. Same was the case with the TV industry. However, some of the major TV productions have begun shooting amid the partial lockdown.

TV’s popular comedy show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai which features Rohitash Gaud, ShubhangiAtre, Aasif Sheikh and Saumya Tandon in the lead too had stalled the shoot for more than 3 months but now it has resumed and people are getting used to the new normal. Amidst all of this we got in touch with TV actress Shubhangi Atre to get to know what does freedom mean to her.

Shubhangi feels we should have a pan-existence view of independence and not just about the country’s freedom struggle, she tells us "Independence is freedom from being dependent on anyone for anything. Many a times there are simple tasks we tend to ignore and push it on someone else. Sometimes, in the notion of being needy we end up piling our work on others. What is required is to go within and understand that we have been blessed with two hands and two legs and that is enough to get us to do our work all by ourselves, both in the professional and personal space.”

However, the idea to help or seek help should not be mixed with this, “At times we can definitely reach out for help. But we must fully understand and ensure that our dependency on each other does not end up becoming a burden on anyone. I hope everyone becomes self-reliant this Independence Day,” she concluded.
