When it comes to comedy films in India, the only one that can give Andaaz Apna Apna a run for its money in terms of cult following is perhaps Hera Pheri. Released in 1999, Hera Pheri brought together the combination of Akshay Kumar, Sunil Shetty  and Paresh Rawal with director Priyadarshan and the resulting product was one of the most iconic comedy films to have ever come out of Bollywood.

Sanjay Dutt

Initially, the role of Shyam played Sunil Shetty was being done by Sanjay Dutt. However, due to his on-going court cases at that time, Baba could only shoot at night. This proved to be quite inconvenient and finally, makers decided to cast Suniel Shetty as Shyam, and the rest, as they say, was history.

Karisma Kapoor

The role of Anuradha Panicker was initially offered to Karisma Kapoor. However, she turned it down as she thought that the role was not substantial enough.

Mamta Kulkarni

After Karisma rejected the project, Mamta Kulkarni was briefly considered for the role. However, the thing did not go as planned and finally it was Tabu who played the role and gave one of her most iconic comic performances ever.

Raveena Tandon

Remember how Namrata Shirodkar set the stage on fire with her superhit number ‘Tun Tunak Tun’ in the film? Well, if things would have gone according to plan A then the same song would have had Raveena Tandon slaying it. She was even signed on for the song, but later things did not work out and finally, it was Namrata who did the song.
