Hina Khan Feels People Wouldn’t Watch TV Unless Actors Give Over-The-Top Reactions, Says She Had To Unlearn That For Films

One of the most popular and adored actresses of Indian television, Hina Khan is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Vikram Bhatt’s psychological thriller, Hacked. The film, also starring Rohan Shah and Mohit Malhotra, follows the story of a 19 year old boy who falls in love with an older woman. When she rejects him, he hacks all her social media accounts. While Hina has been in the entertainment industry for almost 11 years, she has never played a similar character before.

In a recent chat with Indian Express, the beauty opened up about how acting in television is different from films. She shared, “When we act on TV, we feel that’s how acting is. But no! Every medium demands certain kind of performance. TV demands over-the-top performance. If we talk the way we are talking, it will not work on TV. People wouldn’t watch it unless we give over-the-top reactions. That doesn’t work in digital and films. So a lot needs to be unlearned. I have actually done it.”

Hina Khan Opens Up On Her Journey From Television To Films; Says ‘Mine Is A Cinderella Story’

Hina began her career as a saree-clad bahu in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and instantly became a fan favorite. When asked what she would like to change if she got a chance to go back, the actress replied, “Nothing! What are you saying! I gave an audition, next day I was in Bombay. I went to the audition with a passport size picture. I didn’t even have a portfolio. I got selected and played the longest-running character on Indian television (for eight years) – a record in India. Mine is a Cinderella story. I think I wouldn’t demand anything other than that. I had never faced a camera. So I don’t think there could have been anything better. I don’t want to change anything. I love the way my journey has been.”
