Singer and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh has been accused of domestic violence after a decade of marriage by his wife Shalini Talwar. Shalini filed the case against the singer in a Delhi-based magistrate court and seeks Rs. 10 crores from him as interim compensation while levying serious allegations of physical and mental abuse and accusing him of sleeping with multiple women.

The case filed on August 3 has shocked the netizens. Shalini in her application filed with the Tis Hazari Court claimed that Honey Singh hid their marriage and ‘panicked and mercilessly beat her’ after pictures of their 2011 wedding leaked. She claims that the singer went to extreme lengths to hide his wedding and even tried to pass off their wedding photos as a photoshoot.

The complaint was filed under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, also names mother-in-law Bhupinder Kaur, father-in-law Sarabjit Singh and Honey Singh's sister Sneha Singh. Shalini also accused Honey Singh’s father of sexual harassment claiming he ‘grazed his hands over her chest’ after walking into her room once while she was changing.

It has also been alleged that the physical and mental torture for Shalini began soon after their wedding. She has claimed that on their way to their honeymoon the singer remained distant and on being asked what the matter was, he said that he married her against his will. She has accused him of “rude, brash, aggressive, contemptuous and disrespectful" behavior after the wedding and said on their honeymoon the singer pushed her on the bed. He also allegedly went and got drunk and then pulled her by the hair and slapped her.

"Due to mental harassment and cruelty imposed upon her over a period of time, she also suffered from symptoms of depression and sought medical help,” claims her application which also details Honey Singh’s problem with drugs and alcohol. While Honey Singh has been given time till 28 August to respond, he has been prevented by the court to dispose of any joint property of jewelry owned by Shalini. She also seeks Rs. 5 lakhs per month to rent accommodation in Delhi so as not to be dependent on her mother.
