Is Kartik Aaryan Imtiaz Ali’s Final Choice Over Ayushmann Khurrana For Playing Punjabi Singer Amar Singh Chamkila In His Biopic?

A few days back, it was reported that Imtiaz Ali is making a biopic on the iconic Punjabi folk singer Amar Singh Chamkila. It was also being said that the director was considering Kartik Aaryan and Ayushmann Khurrana for the same. Given Ayushmann’s singing talent, he might have been an obvious choice for the role, but Imtiaz Ali has a different plan.

If sources are to be believed then the director has zeroed in on Kartik Aaryan to play the role. The source revealed, “Kartik Aaryan has been reportedly approached to play the role of popular Punjabi singer late Amar Singh Chamkila. This would be another collaboration between Kartik and Imtiaz. But, the filmmaker won’t direct it. The film will be produced by Imtiaz Ali and Reliance Entertainment and directed by Imtiaz’s brother Sajid Ali who made his directorial debut last year with Avinash Tiwary’s Laila Majnu.”

Kartik is already working with Imtiaz Ali for Aaj Kal and clearly the director is impressed with Kartik’s work to offer him yet another film under his banner. Also, if you look closely, Kartik does share a sort of faint similarity with the deceased singer and might turn out to be an interesting choice for the role.
