EXCLUSIVE: It Is Our Duty To Protect Our Physical And Social Environment Says Gully Boy Singer Ankur Tewari

It wouldn‘t be an exaggeration to state that the world is at the brink of a huge catastrophe. And this has come about due to humans and their ways. They are absolutely nonchalant towards anything that doesn’t concern them superficially!

Well, mother nature affects us internally, at a different level altogether. It is for us to understand that and work in a manner that uplifts nature and doesn’t harm it in any way! But things are happening quite differently! For instance, the ecology in the oceans are gradually depleting, and this state has come about because of several reasons which are overfishing, the loss of habitat and most importantly the climate change. These oceanic phenomena need to be delved deeper into, they need to be researched about, all and sundry should be educated about it, conservation activities should begin and only then a proper balance will be maintained! Well, in a small contribution towards this cause, singer and musician Ankur Tewari performed live last Friday for 100 Pipers Play For A Cause!

Well, it is a lovely reason to play for, I thought it would be great to get in touch with Ankur to know more about it, to know more about his psychology and also why did he extend his support to the cause in the first place. Is his support just a superficial one or does he really mean it.

    Ankur, are you listening?

I literally tried to decode his association with ‘Play For a Cause’ and it was kind of fulfilling in a strange sort of way!

    Excerpts -

    1. Have you written your own songs for the cause?

Through 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’, our focus remains to draw attention towards the causes. Therefore, more than the songs, what I wish to leave behind is the reverb of the pledge the whole city would take to ‘Save Ocean’. It is the allegiance that remains and lives even after the performance and that is something the audience and the whole Mumbai would together create and own.

    2. What according to you is the most pressing concern about the environment now?

Each of the 27 cities is fighting a different cause that is of utmost importance to it. 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’ has carefully mapped 15 causes against each of these cities. Top 15 concerns for our physical and social environment include: Save Water, Save the wildlife, Save the hills, Save the ocean, Tree Plantation, Rainwater harvesting, Clean drinking water for the underprivileged, Education for all, Prevent water pollution, Empowering local self-help groups, Meals for the underprivileged, Air pollution, Stop one time use plastic, Save the dying art forms, Gender Equality

    3. What is your advice to the government of India in order to alleviate these issues or their causes?

The Government is constantly striving to alleviate these issues. On grass root level, we are all responsible to protect our physical and social environment. Before action comes attention, and hence through 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’ we are trying to create awareness towards 15 most pressing concerns. After positively impacting the society through previous editions of ‘Play for a Cause’, Seagram’s 100 Pipers expands the impact of the platform with 100 musical events spread across 27 cities on 1 Day which is 29th November, 2019.

    4. Are we going to hear you crooning film songs anymore?

    Why not.

    5. And what made you sing for 100 pipers play for a cause?

100 Pipers Play for a Cause has been contributing to the society in more than one way over the years. Over the years, 100 Pipers have consistently translated its positioning of ‘Be Remembered for Good’ into actual consumer experiences via the ‘Play For A Cause’ music events wherein the brand brings together celebrated musicians & organizes performances to generate awareness & contribution for various causes that impact our society. Associating with 100 Pipers ‘Play for a Cause’ gave me an opportunity to rise above materialistic success and work towards leading a positive change for the society.
