Jaaved Jaaferi Pens An Emotional Note For His Dad Jagdeep, Calls Him A Legend

The year 2020 has really been extremely menacing. Bollywood alone has seen numerous deaths and it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to state that this year has been particularly black for B’Town. One after the other, the Hindi film industry has lost many of its gems. From Irrfan Khan to Rishi Kapoor to Sushant Singh Rajput to comedian Jagdeep.

Well, it was on 8th July, ’20 that Jaaved Jaaferi’s dad Jagdeep breathed his last. The veteran actor was part of many successful Bollywood films including Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, Gora Aur Kala, Bidaai, Swarag Narak, Agent Vinod, Shehenshah, Andaz Apna Apna.

Recently, his son Jaaved took to his official Twitter handle to share an emotional note for his dad. He began his note by thanking all those who shared the pain of his dad’s death and he also went on to reveal that his dad lost his own father at a very young age and then he started struggling to make his ends meet.

He wrote, "At 10 yrs of age what destiny choose for him, as the light at the end of the tunnel, was cinema. The journey began with #BRChopra sahab’s first film ‘Afsana’ (shot in ‘49 but released in 51) and as the adage goes ‘a journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step’, there was no looking back. His father figures and guide’s were the likes of BimalRoy, GuruDutt, MehboobKhan, Kasif."

He went on to further write, "The word 'legend' is thrown around freely these days but in his case, it is so amply justified."

He further wrote, "A father who taught me the values of life, the lessons of poverty, the importance of dedication and the finesse of craft, with innumerable stories of positivity and inspiration. Always smiling, with words of encouragement for all, and reminding me that true success is gauged by what one ‘is’ and not what one ‘has’, and by ‘what’ one knows and not ‘who’ one knows."
