Janhvi Kapoor Feels Priyanka Chopra Was ‘Iconic’ In Dostana; Hopes To Get Somewhere Close With The Sequel

It feels like it’s an era of sequels, with one being announced after another. Well, one of the most exciting and awaited projects of the lot is Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, which is a quasi-sequel to his 2008 romantic comedy. In the original, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham pretended to be a gay couple before falling in love with their flat-mate Priyanka Chopra. But this time around, reports suggest that Janhvi Kapoor and Kartik Aaryan will play the role of siblings who fall for the same boy, newbie Lakshya.

In a recent chat with Indian Express, Janhvi opened up about comparisons, to the original film and star cast, that their team will face. She was quoted saying, “Priyanka Chopra was iconic in Dostana. So, there is a responsibility, but it’s another film, completely different. So, I don’t know what I can do. All that I can do is the bar, the standard that she has set, you have to reach for the stars I guess, pray to God and hope that you get somewhere close.”

Well, PeeCee left us in awe with her spectacular performance and the stunning outfits she donned in the 2008 film. It definitely is tough competition. However, since the story line and characters are completely different, maybe Dostana 2 and Janhvi will manage to make a separate fan base. Let’s wait and watch!
