John Abraham Calls Satyameva Jayate A Smart Film; Says ‘People Who Criticize Me Aren’t Feeding Me’

Back in 2018, John Abraham starrer Satyameva Jayate clashed in theatres with Akshay Kumar’s sports drama Gold. It got a pretty great response from the audience thanks to John’s wonderful performance and the story-line, but failed to impress the critics, hence receiving mixed reviews. Three years later, the handsome hunk is all set to return to the big screen with a sequel to the Milap Zaveri film. Titled Satyameva Jayate 2, the much-awaited project features John in a double role and also stars the gorgeous Divya Khosla Kumar.

In a recent chat with Mid Day, the actor was asked if the team kept reviews of the 2018 film in mind before making a ‘better’ sequel. To this, John replied, “I thought Satyameva Jayate was a smart film. I don’t give a sh*t about critics who didn’t like it. I am not being condescending towards reviews, but lately, they have become a joke. There are people on YouTube who have a lot to say about a film. Satyameva Jayate had elements of Deewar [1975] in it, and that’s what drew me to the franchise. My reason was clear — I believed in the film, but above anything else, I like Milap. People who criticize me aren’t feeding me.”

He further shared that once the director had asked what he will do if Satyameva Jayate 2 failed. John had told him that they will work together again as the worst-case scenario will be a lesser budget for their third film. Now that’s what we call a dynamic duo! Satyameva Jayate 2 will arrive in theatres on 13th May on the occasion of Eid. Are you looking forward to the sequel of John’s vigilante action film? We sure are!
