Last Independence Day it was Satyameva Jayate, this Independence Day it is Batla House. Next year, it could well be Satyameva Jayate 3. If things go as per plan, John Abraham could be aiming at bringing his much awaited Satyameva Jayate 3 on 15th August 2020. After all, the Independence Day weekend is turning out to be quite lucrative for the actor who has been scoring consistently whenever he brings his films in the national holiday.

Last year when he brought Satyameva Jayate on 15th August, many wondered if it would manage to face up to the challenge posted by Akshay Kumar’s Gold which had a much bigger set up. Well, the film ended up surprising one and all with an opening of over 20 crores and then the first three day collections (after a regular Thursday and Friday) turned out to be 37.62 crores. This was also John Abraham’s biggest opening weekend when it came to a solo release of his.

Circa 2019 and this time around it’s John Abraham’s Batla House which has done the trick. The film opened at 15.55 crores and though Friday was a regular day, there were increase in numbers followed by a good Saturday and Sunday as well. The film has collected 47.99 crores in its first four days, yet again turning out to be a good start for John Abraham. Moreover, the appreciation for the film is there as well which means it could well enjoy a long race.

This time around, the competition was even stronger as Akshay Kumar’s Mission Mangal has emerged as a much bigger competition and is collecting around 40% more on a daily basis. Still, Batla House has managed to hold its own base and find audiences for itself. Especially at various single screens, the film is finding an even better response.

All of this is already making the team of Satyameva Jayate 2 quite excited about coming on 15th August next year. The trio of John Abraham, producer Nikkhil Advani and director Milap Zaveri could well be putting together plans in place to ensure that the film goes on floors as scheduled and then gets completed as well so as to be on time for the Independence Day release in 2020.

As of now, Akshay Kumar doesn’t have any set plans for bringing a film of his on 15th August as Ajay Devgn has booked the date for his Bhuj - The Pride of India. However, John Abraham has made his intentions quite clear already that he is now setting his sight on holiday releases and would go beyond just the national holidays but even aim for the festivals. Considering the fact that Satyameva Jayate stays on to be his biggest solo grosser till date and Batla House is now set to go past it, it won’t be surprising at all if he continues the trend with Satyameva Jayate next.
