Kalki Koechlin Reveals How Ex-Husband Anurag Kashyap Reacted To Her Pregnancy

Kalki Koechlin and Anurag Kashyap are not only gold standards in their respective arts, but they are also a shining example of how exes can really have respect for each other and be friends even after break-ups. Despite their divorce, Anurag and Kalki have not only collaborated with each other professionally but have also had nothing but warmth and a strong friendship between them.

Kalki Koechlin who is expecting her first child with boyfriend Guy Hershberg, recently revealed how he ex-husband reacted to the news. She said, “He’s just welcomed me to the parents’ club and told me to call if I need anything. Seeing Aaliyah (Anurag’s daughter) growing up and my own brother Oriel too, I’ve already got a glimpse into this role of a lifetime.”

Kalki also candidly talked about people who are making a big deal out of her having a baby ‘out of wedlock’. She said, “What is this term ‘out of wedlock’? It belongs in a Shakespearean drama and not in a millennial world. Marriage can be useful for bureaucracy, but it is not a sign of love. Only time and consistency tell of a strong relationship.” When asked about if a wedding is on the cards, she answered, “We have considered it for the purpose of parental rights and the nationality issue. But we don’t want to rush it because of societal pressures. We will see when the time feels right. It will be a registration and a quiet family gathering.”

Kalki is currently five months pregnant and has shared that she will be having a water birth and together with Guy, they have decided to pick a gender-neutral name for their baby. When asked about Guy’s involvement in the process, Kalki said, “He has been helping me with breathing techniques and will be present at the birth. We are yet to plan how we will divide time after that, but we are all for sharing domestic and professional timings equally.”
