Kangana Ranaut, 60 Celebs Claim 'Selective Outrage' In Counter-Letter To PM

Sixty-two personalities, including actor Kangana Ranaut, CBFC chief Prasoon Joshi and classical dancer Sonal Mansingh, have written an open letter against the "selective outrage and false narratives" of celebrities who had earlier penned an open letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi over lynching incidents in the country.

Titled 'Against Selective Outrage & False Narratives,' the letter terms those who wrote about mob-killings as "self-styled guardians and conscience keepers" and charges them of political bias.

The letter questions the silence of celebrities when tribals and marginalized groups are targeted by Maoists. The original open letter was signed by Adoor Gopalkrishnan, Aparna Sen, Mani Ratnam, Shyam Benegal, Ketan Mehta, Gautam Ghose; actors Soumitra Chatterjee, Revathy Asha and singer Shubha Mudgal.

Among those that have signed on this counter letter are actress Kangana Ranaut, CBFC Chief Prasoon Joshi, filmmakers Madhur Bhandarkar and Vivek Agnihotri.

ANI shared a copy of the letter on Twitter sharing the names of the signatories and the contents of the letter.

There has been no response from PM Modi on either of the letters so far.
