Kangana Ranaut To Turn Her Directorial Debut Into A Franchise, Locks Script For Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda

Kangana Ranaut is all set to turn her film Manikarnika into a franchise. Reports suggest that the actress is now preparing to star in the second film of the Manikarnika franchise, which will be about another female hero from India.

According to an IANS report a source close to the development has claimed that the second film has been titled Manikarnika Returns: The Legend Of Didda. The movie is apparently being envisioned on an international scale and the franchise intends to bring to the fore stories of real-life female heroes from history whose contributions to the country have been forgotten.

Didda was the Queen of Kashmir who had one polio-stricken leg but was touted to be one of the greatest warriors of her time. Among her biggest achievements was her defeating Mehmood Ghaznavi in battle twice.

Manikarnika, the 2019 film based on the life of the Queen of Jhansi gave Kangana Ranaut her first directorial credit for a film alongside filmmaker Krish. The movie landed in a big controversy following the shared credit for direction.

According to the report, Kangana Ranaut has already locked in the script for the sequel with producer Kamal Jain last week who also produced the original film.

Apparently, the actress plans to honour her other work commitment first and will begin work on the second film of the Manikarnika franchise in January 2022.
