Kangana Ranaut’s Thalaivi: Roja Actor Arvind Swami To Play MGR In The Jayalalitha Biopic

Kangana is all set to play late actress, politician and Tamil Nadu CM Jayalalitha in her biopic. Titled Thalaivi, the film was reported stalled for some time but Kangana’s manager and sister, Rangoli Chandel squashed all rumours and had revealed that the film is very much on track. In fact, Kangana Ranaut has been spotted outside dance classes in Mumbai quite often and she is apparently taking Bharatnatyam lessons for this film itself. She has also been taking intense prosthetics sessions in Los Angeles.

And now, the cast is also increasing. If reports are to be believed, then another actor has joined the film. It is none other than Tamil star Arvind Swami, who will portray the character of MG Ramcharan aka MGR.

A source close to the makers had revealed to a website,

“MGR and Jayalalithaa starred in 28 box-office hits between 1965 and 1973. While the makers needed a worthy actor to do justice to his role, another criterion was that the artiste be fluent in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Arvind satisfied both criteria. The unit will kick-off Thalaivi's shoot with Kangana from the first week of November in Mysore, and Arvind will join her on November 15."

Well, Jayalalitha’s life is indeed incomplete without the mention of MGR who had been her mentor and it was through his party, AIDMK, that she entered politics.

We are already getting excited about the project, are you?
