Karan Johar Shares An Update On Takht After Reports Claim It Is Shelved, Says The Film Is Only Delayed

Filmmaker Karan Johar has denied all reports of his magnum opus Takht being shelved for good. The period drama that has a huge ensemble cast was announced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions in 2019 and ever since it became one of Bollywood’s highly anticipated films. If all had gone as planned the film would be releasing on Christmas 2021 but sadly that’s not happening anymore.

Since the Covid-19 pandemic led all plans of taking Takht on floors last year astray there has been little to no update on the project. The big lineup of stars in the cast are all busy with their individual projects as Bollywood lands on its feet post the pandemic and amidst all these reports were that Karan Johar has entirely dropped the idea of this big-budget film get in the Mughal era.

On being contacted, the filmmaker for the very first time since announcing the release date of the film in February last year shared an update. Told an entertainment portal the film is not shelved but simply delayed.

Takth was announced with Ranveer Singh, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Janhvi Kapoor and Anil Kapoor in the cast and with Karan in the director’s seat. This heady combination of stars does make the film worth waiting for. This will be the first time Karan will be directing a period film and all we now have to do is wait and see when the project eventually gets made.
