    The day is finally here when the 93rd Academy Awards would be handed over to the chosen few. Last year and this year, we have already witnessed changes that we never thought would happen. The Oscars 2021, that way, would be unique because for the first time, there would be no crowd. The ceremony is being held jointly at Los Angeles’ Union Station and the traditional venue, Hollywood's Dolby Theatre. This time, there would be no hosts as well.     Anthony Hopkins Wins Best Actor For The Father

    Anthony Hopkins won the Best Actor Award for his performance in The Father. It was the second award for the film after Best Adapted Screenplay. Anthony Hopkins had also won the BAFTA Award. Other nominees in the category were Riz Ahmed for Sound of Metal, Chadwick Boseman for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Gary Oldman for Mank, and Steven Yeun for Minari.

    Frances McDormand Bags Best Actress Award For Nomadland

    Nomadland seems to be the big win of the night. It bagged its third Oscar tonight after Frances McDormand won the Best Actress Award for her performance. The other nominees in the category were Viola Davis for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Andra Day for United States vs. Billie Holiday, Vanessa Kirby for Pieces of a Woman, and Carey Mulligan Promising Young Woman.

    Nomadland Wins Best Picture

    After Chloé Zhao created history for being the first woman of colour and second woman to win the best director award, Nomadland made it big in the 93rd Academy Awards by winning the Award for Best Picture. The other nominees in the category had been Mank, Judas and the Black , Messiah, The Father, The Trial of the Chicago 7, Minari, Sound of Metal, and Promising Young Woman.

    In Memorium: Academy Pays Tribute To Irrfan Khan, Chadwick Boseman

    2020 had been a year of loss and in the year, we lost many eminent film personalities too. The 93rd Academy Awards recognised them and paid homage. It included Chadwick Boseman, who has been posthumously nominated for Best Actor award for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom and Indian actor Irrfan Khan who passed away on 29th April 2020 after a long battle with cancer. It also paid tribute to costume designer Bhanu Athaiya who had won Oscar in 1983 for Gandhi.

    Judas and the Black Messiah Receives Second Award For The Night

    Judas and the Black Messiah got its second award in the Original Song Category. Fight for You won the award. H.E.R., Dernst Emile II, and Tiara Thomas received the award.

    Soul Receives Second Oscar For Best Original Score

    Soul received the second award for the night as Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste won in the best original score category.

    Sound Of Metal Wins Second Oscar For Film Editing

    After the Award for Sound, Sound Of Metal bagged its second Academy Award for the night after Mikkel E.G. Nielsen swept the award for film editing. He had also won the BAFTA and the Critics' Choice Award earlier.

    Mank Wins Two Oscars- For Cinematography And Production Design

    Mank bagged two awards one after the other at the 933rd Academy Awards. While Erik Messerschmidt won it for Cinematography, Donald Graham Burt and Jan Pascale won it for Production design.

    Youn Yuh-Jung Becomes The First Korean To Win Best Actress In A Supporting Role Award

    Looks like the 93rd Academy Award is out there to set history. The supporting actress award was announced and Youn Yuh-Jung bagged the award for Minari.. She became the first Korean to win the Oscars. She had earlier bagged BAFTA as well for the role. In her acceptance speech, she points out  how everyone in the West would pronounce her name wrong, but she says, "Tonight you are all forgiven."

    Tenet Bags Oscar For Visual Effects

    Tenet bagged the award for the best visuals. It had also earlier won the BAFTA Award. Andrew Jackson, Andy Lockley, David Lee and Scott Fisher got the award.

    Pete Doctor and Dana Murray took the Best Animated Featurre Film Award for their film, Soul.

    Will McCormack and Michael Govier won the award for Best Animated Short Film for If Anything Happens I Love You.

    Two Distant Strangers Wins Award For Best Live Action Short Film

    Travon Free and Martin Desmond Roe won the Award for Best Live Action Short Film for Two Distant Strangers.

    Sound Of Metal Wins Award For Sound

    Nicolas Becker, Jaime Baksht, Michelle Couttolenc, Carlos Cortés and Phillip Bladh won the award in the Sound category for Sound Of Metal.

    Award for Direction Goes To Chloé Zhao For Nomadland

    After bagging the BAFTA and the Golden Globe Award for direction, Nomadland now also bagged the Academy Awards. Chloé Zhao lifted the Oscars too for directing Nomadland. She also made history  as the first woman of color and second woman overall to win the Oscar for best director.

    Ma Rainey's Black Bottom lifted the second award of the night after Ann Roth wins award in the Costume Design category for the film.

    Judas and The Black Messiah had already made history by being the first film with all-Black producing team being nominated at the Oscars. Now the film bagged its first award for the night as Daniel Kaluuya swept the award for the best actor in a supporting role.

    The Award for the International Feature Film goes to Another Round. The film is from Denmark and the comedy-drama film has been directed by Thomas Vinterberg.
