Maidaan Director Confirms He Tested Positive For COVID-19; Reveals When Shoot Of Ajay Devgn Starrer Will Resume

Many Bollywood celebrities have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the past one month, including filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, actor Ranbir Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi and Satish Kaushik. Just today, Aamir Khan joined the list and is now under quarantine. Well, another celebrity who reportedly contracted the virus last week is Maidaan director Amit Ravindernath Sharma. Initially, these were just rumors. However, the filmmaker has now confirmed the news and has announced that the shoot of the Ajay Devgn starrer has come to a halt.

In a report shared by Mid Day, a source was quoted saying, “After every two matches, the makeshift football ground has to be refurbished as it gets damaged during the shoot. So, after the team wrapped up the schedule on March 12, a three-day break was charted out to give a touch-up to the stadium. But with Amit in isolation at his home, the shoot will now begin in April.” Confirming his test result, the director stated, “We plan to resume shooting in the first week of April.”

Meanwhile, Ajay is using this time to finish another much awaited project-- MayDay, co-starring Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh. He also has many other exciting films such as Thank God, Bhuj: The Pride of India and RRR in the pipeline.
