Mayday: Ajay Devgn And Amitabh Bachchan Starrer Will Release In Theatres Next Year; Deets Inside

Due to the second wave of novel coronavirus, most of the states have gone under lockdown again while a few others have imposed COVID-19 restrictions to help stop the spread. As a result, many filmmakers are once again considering a direct digital route to premiere their much awaited projects. However, some are still hopeful that the situation will improve in a year or so and are eyeing a theatre release. One such film, which will hit the silver screen in 2022, is Mayday.

Featuring Ajay Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh in the lead, Mayday has been directed and produced by Devgn. Back in December it was announced that the film will release on 29^th April 2022. Well, in a recent report shared by Bollywood Life, film exhibitor and distributor Akshaye Rathi revealed, “If you remember, in-between, Ajay Devgn had gone to Hyderabad to shoot at Ramoji (film studio). So he completed Bhuj and after that he shot Mayday (probably some portions). Mayday will be releasing next year. It was always planned for a summer 2022 release.”

Talking about the debate between theatrical and digital premiere of the film, Akshaye was quoted saying, “Yeah... yeah... yeah... Theatres... theatres... only theatres... no OTT at all. It's summer next year, tab tak agar cinemas nahi khul payaenge, toh kabhi nahi khulenge (if cinema halls don't open till then, they'll never open), and we'll go bankrupt (he owns a chain of theatres himself).”
