As Me Too Movement Gains Momentum, Fresh Names From Bollywood Come Up!

Tanushree Dutta had taken a bold step and opened up the case of harassment against her by a Bollywood bigshot like Nana Patekar. She clearly ruffled a lot of feathers and has powered the wave of #MeToo in India all over again. Tanushree had recounted how she was harassed by senior actor Nana Patekar while shooting for a dance number for Horn Ok Please back in 2008. After the incident, she was left disillusioned and finally vanished from Bollywood. Now that she had no fear, she could open up and people came out in her support. But it also opened up an avenue for others to speak.

As the movement of #MeToo has now hit Indian newsrooms, many cases have come up against those who hold top positions in the Indian newsrooms. But more shockingly, many people have reported how they had been harassed by famous celebs when they met them, either as a fan or for an interview.

It all started when the case against comedian Utsav Chakraborty came up. Here is a list of Bollywood celebs and famous personalities whose name have come up once again for sexual harassment cases:

    1. Kanan Gill

The comedian gained humongous fame with Pretentious Movie Review that he did along with Biswa Kalyan Rath. He had since then featured in a number of stand-ups and also been a part of the Sonakshi Sinha starrer Noor. Women have come up on Twitter and claimed that he had manhandled many of his fans on various occasions!

    2. Kailash Kher

Women had mentioned how Kailash Kher has misbehaved with them, but the allegations got hushed up. But this time, he has been named once again for making untoward advances towards a woman from Muscat who had gone to interview him!

    3. Vikas Bahl

With the #MeToo movement gaining movement once again, Vikas Bahl's name has come up once again. It is also being said that the reason for Phantom's death is because of the rift between Vikas and Anurag Kashyap. Vikas Bahl had sexually abused one of the employees of Phantom during the filming of Bombay Velvet in 2015. She had been depressed and finally revealed her ordeal to Anurag Kashyap who was her direct boss. While he did not do anything about it then, his girlfriend Shubra Shetty had promised to take up the matter. But even after her resignation in 2017, Bahl never apologised or accepted the charges.

Anurag Kashyap, on the other hand, has revealed that a complaint was truly made to him. Due to the absence of any committee to deal with harassment and because Bahl was a founding member of the production house, he could not be sacked! But Kashyap has accepted that he indeed received a complaint and the situation should have been dealt with in a better way.

    4. Utsav Chakraborty

The comedian, who has been with AIB for some time, was slapped with sexual harassment allegations against minor girls. What is more shocking is the fact that the comedy circle knew full well about such behaviour of Utsav and yet chose to keep mum. AIB has also put up a statement saying sorry.

    5. Chetan Bhagat

A set of allegations have come up against Chetan Bhagat who had wanted to hook-up with a woman and said that even though he is married, he has never felt a connection like that. Chetan Bhagat has accepted that the chat shown is indeed true and has also explained his situation.
