Nawazuddin Siddiqui: ‘Depression And Frustration Start When You Dream Big’

Mental health has become a talking point for the past few days after Sushant Singh Rajput ended his life at the age of just 34 years. He had apparently been suffering from depression and had also been seeking help on the same. His death has come as a crude shock to the industry and many have opened up the dialogue on mental health. But just before his death, another actor had also opened up about depression and anxiety and how they are on the peak especially because of the lockdown. We are talking about Nawazuddin Siddiqui. Nawazuddin too had opened up about suffering from depression.

In his interaction during HT Spotlight, the actor had been talking about mental health during the lockdown. He opened up how his AC had been leaking in his office and he had to collect water in a bucket and throw it, just like old days. He also opened up about how he had dealt with depression during his struggling days. He said, “I have always had mazdoor-like hardworking, fighting spirit. I don't think that I am bigger than them. I had the same intensions as theirs. I didn't dream of becoming a star. My only intension was to survive and earn for the next meal. It continued for 10 years. I did odd jobs and walked to my friend's house for food.  There were difficult times but we were happy even then. But ya, I did feel depressed at times because of lack of work. Depression and frustration start when you dream big.”

Nawazuddin Siddiqui also said that he though he did not feel like ending his life, he did feel that we will probably die! He said, “I used to walk to my friend's house, without train, for food and walk back on foot. Because I wasn't eating well so I was getting weak and my hair started falling off. I used to get tired after walking 2 km. I felt as if I am going to die soon. Because of which I used to stay out all day to see the world because I didn't know how many days I will survive.”

Nawazuddin had recently been facing a lot of trouble in his personal life.. His wife, Aaliya Siddiqui has filed for divorce and with every passing day, the case has been taking ugly turns!
