NCB Files Affidavit Against Rhea And Showik Chakraborty’s Bail Plea, Says They Are ‘Involved In Drug Trafficking’

The Sushant Singh Rajput case is no more just a death probe, it has meandered into directions that were unexpected. Now, it has transformed into a full-fledged drug probe. The late actor’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty who are currently under the NCB custody have filed a bail plea. As of now, Rhea Chakraborty is lodged in the Byculla Jail whereas Showik Chakraborty is in the Taloja Jail.

The duo had filed a bail plea to the sessions court earlier which was rejected and now, they have filed a bail plea in the Bombay High Court as well. However, the NCB has filed an affidavit yesterday opposing their bail. Sameer Wankhede, Zonal Director (NCB), filed two affidavits in the High Court saying, "Electronic evidence such as WhatsApp chats, records were retrieved from mobile, laptop and hard-disk and it indicated payment made for drugs. Thus, there is ample evidence to show present applicant Rhea has not only regularly dealt with but also financed illicit trafficking of drugs."
