Neha Dhupia was 4 and a half months pregnant when she contracted COVID-19; reveals she was fired from projects during pregnancy

Back in July this year, Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi announced that they are expecting their second child together after daughter Mehr. The actress also revealed that when she found out about her second pregnancy, Angad was tested positive for coronavirus. Well, in a recent interview, Neha shared that she had also contracted COVID-19. She was 4 and a half months pregnant and had a milder version of the virus, but she was incredibly worried about Mehr who was isolating with her in the same room.

In her interview with The Quint, Neha also revealed that she was fired from films during her pregnancy. She shared, “We say as an industry, a lot has changed. As actors, we can try but it's the ones who give the opportunity who are the real change makers. There are so many things that, or so many other places which, or so many other makers that turned around and told me ‘Hey, Neha I'm sorry but, you know, you're pregnant, you've got to step down’, and I’m like, ‘Give me a chance where we can work around this’, and it was a clear ‘no’.”

Neha later got to play a pregnant cop in A Thursday. Talking about how things worked out, she shared that she went to her director Behzad Khambata and told him that she’s 5 and a half months pregnant, so the decision of how to go about it is on him. The filmmaker gracefully replied that this is not the time and age for him to fire someone, especially because she is pregnant. He said, “There are cops in the world who do their duty and they're pregnant at the same time. So, why can’t you do it?” Neha had goosebumps when she heard this.

Well, things worked out beautifully and we can’t wait to see Neha shine on screen as a badass cop soon!
