Not Abhishek And Rani, These Actors To Play Leads In Bunty Aur Babli Remake?

There was a strong buzz of remaking Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukherjee starrer Bunty Aur Babli. The 14-year-old film was a crime-comedy which became hugely popular with the masses due to its fast pace and a thumping soundtrack.

It was also reported that Gully Boy actor Siddhanth Chaturvedi was roped in for a special cameo in the film. And now, according to the grapevine, there is another development to the story.

According to a media report, Abhishek and Rani are not being considered to play the lead roles for Bunty Aur Babli Again. The main reason behind this has been reported to be the 14-year-old film itself! According to the report, just because, “the film is 14 years old. And in the interim, both the actors have grown in age and appearance. So it would be wise to have them in special cameos and not the principal roles because the sequel moves up by a decade and a half to the present time."

The report further quotes a source as saying, “Abhishek and Rani remain Bunty And Bali. But the story revolves around this young couple who are fans of these loveable crooks and take the same route as Bunty And Babli to fulfill their dream of becoming rich and famous quickly.”

And for the roles of these young crooks, the names of Ishaan Khatter and Jahnvi Kapoor are being considered.

If this is really the case, the audiences would then be seeing the duo together once again after Dhadak. The report further states that the film may not be directed by Shaad Ali because he is busy with another project and that this film will be directed by Bharat co-writer Varun V. Sharma. Sharma has also written three short films namely Kirchiyaan, Gabby and Adjust, while he produced and directed only Gabby and Adjust. He was the script supervisor of two films namely Sultan and Kill Dill. He had also faced the camera in Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai where he played the role of an M.E.A. Officer and he was the chief assistant director of the second unit of the same film.
